A Change of Scenery - Needed New Wall Art

It has been a loooong time since I posted on here.  Well, life has been busy as I am sure everyone else can sympathise with...

The last couple of weeks I have been on a sewing craze (I'll post more later).  So, this morning I decided that I wanted to do something different.  I needed a new wall hanging.

I went to my fabric stash and pulled out a few of my favorites.  Lay your canvas out on your fabric to get the size you need or the exact pattern you are looking for.  You will need a few extra inches to wrap around.

Start stapling your fabric down.  If you are working with a fabric that has lines, be careful not to pull too tight on different sections.

Now that you have the first piece down, cut out your second piece.  The size all depends on exactly what you are looking for in a wall hanging as well as how you want to wrap it on there.

Once you have stapled down the second layer, work on the third.  I used burlap for mine to add a little bit of texture to it.  Trim off all your excess edges inside.

I wanted to give the burlap a little dimension so I gathered it in one place.  I just quickly added a piece of wire so that I could twist it tight. 

Now you are ready to make the rosettes.  They are extremely easy.  I cut a long strip of fabric for each one.  You can choose any length but you'll want at least 4 inches wide to make a big enough flower.  Fold the fabric in half lengthwise and start stitching (Real quick and easy stitches).

For the inside of the flower you'll want to stitch it like I did above.  Start that one first and then continue to the end.  As you are gathering it, it begins to make a flower.  Once it is all gathered I usually put a few stitches all the way through it.  Or you can add a couple drops of glue on the layers to stablize it.

Follow the same steps for each of the colors.  Make them as large or as small as you want.

Once your flowers are ready add anything you want to the inside.  I liked the way the burlap one ended up by itself but I wanted to add something to the center of the other two.  I added a touch of glue and dropped in a few beads to dry.  Possibilities are endless for what you could do.

After your flowers are dry, shake off the excess beads and you are ready to finish the wall hanging.  Add glue to the back of each flower and place where you'd like.  Now you have a great new wall hanging.
